The science behind A-SAFE products

The strength and durability of a safety product are most influenced by the material it is made from. A-SAFE has developed and manufactured a unique three-tiered polymer material called Memaplex™, which is exclusive to A-SAFE safety products.

 

Triple protection:

  • The outer layer is highly visible, UV protected, and resistant to corrosion and chemicals. It is also colour-treated, eliminating the need for painting.

  • The middle layer acts as an absorption zone, dispersing kinetic energy away from the impact point.

  • The inner layer provides strength and flexibility.

Built-in memory

During the production process of Memaplex, the material's molecules stretch and align to create a unique network structure within the polymer. This network enables an innovative built-in memory that allows the material to return to its original shape after an impact.

Three-Phase joint

The patented connection technology in A-SAFE barriers is unique, as it is not a typical weak point but actually enhances their strength. The joint utilizes an innovative three-phase energy absorption system that gradually reduces and disperses impact energy throughout the barrier. This prevents large amounts of kinetic energy from reaching and damaging the floor or anchoring elements. The connection system also allows for the replacement of individual barrier sections without disassembling the entire set of barriers.
